Recap: Delegate Day Feb 28, 2025

This post is meant to provide some high-level takeaways from Delegate Day that we hosted on February 28, 2025 in Denver.

For a more detailed overview of the discussions that day, check out this document. Thanks to @kineticsarah for capturing the info and putting together the doc.

The report covers:

  • what worked well and what didn’t with the first 4 months of activities, including the Co-Creation Cycle
  • Priorities for the next 6 months
  • Working groups to form
  • Open discussion on Governance Participation & Voting Challenges; Governance Structures & Decision-Making; Programs, Funding, & Treasury Management
  • Notes from the Negation Game demo from @connormcmk

Recurring Themes

  • Delegate Clarity & Engagement – Roles, voting accountability, and incentives need improvement.
  • Proposal Quality & Volume – Need clearer proposal leads and more submissions.
  • Ecosystem Growth & Strategy – Strengthen verticals, research, and community education initiatives.
  • Treasury & Incentives – Improve fund allocation and participation incentives.
  • Communication & Transparency – Better storytelling, clearer governance processes, and more alignment on success metrics.

Priorities for the Next Six Months

I want to make sure to pull out the priorities that came up. You can see both the sticky notes that were written up during the workshop and Sarah’s overview of it below.

  • Governance & Treasury
    • Treasury management
    • Delegate tokens from treasury
    • Incentivize increased delegation
    • Define sustainable programs for financial value
  • Ecosystem & Community Growth
    • Policy advocacy & grants
    • Community education sub-DAO
    • Local nodes supporting education & grants
    • Support for high-growth region events
    • Close collaboration across teams
  • Strategic Development
    • Establish a long-term vision for Scroll
    • Verticals strategy
    • Research for impact initiatives
    • Align on success metrics

Working Groups Focus Areas

The topic of working groups is one that’s on my mind a lot at the moment. I think refining the tasks to be done and who will do them is crucial for the DAOs success. This list of ideas was a great starting point to help advance that discussion:

  • Accountability for grants & delegates
  • Metrics & data tracking
  • Impact measurement
  • Ecosystem development framework
  • Design research function
  • Weaving across working groups
  • Treasury management
  • Grant programs
  • User incentives
  • Verticals strategy

More to come on this in the coming months.

Conclusion

The Delegate Day had some productive discussions that aligned with various topics already discussed. We are not sure when we will plan the next event and will keep the group updated as those plans form (definitely something at Devconnect, we’ll see if any conferences before then make sense).
