(Belated) Q1 Goals and Priorities

Q1 Reflections and What’s Next: A Governance Update

Hi everyone. We’re providing updates on our progress here and there will be a separate post for Q2 goals this week.

  • Legend:
:green_circle: Success - Task fully completed.
:yellow_circle: Partial success - Task has been completed partially.
:red_circle: Fail - Task has not been initiated or completed.

Here’s a look at what we achieved and what we’re focusing on next.

Operational Goals

:green_circle: Success: January: We had one succesful proposal focused on user research:

:red_circle: Fail: February: No proposal went live - this makes the Q1 goal a partial miss.

:green_circle: Success: March: We had the constitution go live for vote:

:green_circle: Success: I, @Jamilya, joined Scroll as the Governance Facilitator in March and have been successfully onboarded.

:yellow_circle: Partial Success: We’re on schedule to publish the Q2 goals by the end of the first week of April, Monday, 7th.

:yellow_circle: Partial success: The governance team has drafted a content roadmap covering media and governance content through Q2, set to be finalized by month’s end.
:red_circle: Fail: It hasn’t yet been shared with the DAO - we’re planning a forum post soon to address that and it will go live in April.

:green_circle:Success: The Foundation team has actively spoken to: Karpatkey, Gauntlet, LlamaRisk, Avantgarde, TokenLogic and we are exploring whether Zodiac modules could be a fit for treasury operations.
:red_circle: Fail: There is no RFP in place and while we will have a call with the group within two weeks, there will not be an RFP in place by then.

:red_circle: Fail: The forum post was not published.

We are actively working on updating the governance documents which we aim to finalize in the upcoming weeks. Once the documents are fully updated, we’ll share a forum post outlining all the changes and improvements in one place.

Ecosystem Growth

:red_circle: Fail: Due to a shift in growth strategy and feedback from delegates, the first DAO DeFi grant program is not being pursued at this time. The Foundation funding program will officially be launched in Q2.

:yellow_circle: Partial Success: We have identified service providers (CharmVerse and GAP) and we have an informal Data & Metrics group that will be meeting Fri, April 4th to review existing metrics pertaining to ecosystem growth. The group will then forumlate a plan of action for Q2.

:green_circle: Success: Local partners have been mapped in Brazil, Kenya, Malaysia, and South Korea, as well as some potential regions beyond those 4;
:green_circle: Success: Initial conversations have taken place in each region, Recordings can be found here. We have also posted a Local Node success framework, which can be found here.

:red_circle: Fail: Apr 1 target is not met, however, there should be at least one Local Node proposal going live for vote in May.

:green_circle: Success: A formal process has been proposed within the Local Node success framework. Concurrently, there is strong interest from Mexico, Argentina, and Nigeria.

Governance Iterations goals

:yellow_circle: Partial success: While there has been no formal RFP, the Foundation has committed to two research grants relating to preference signalling (Negation Game & Voice), as in the process of exploring an AI tool for onboarding support.

:red_circle: Fail: There is no forum post outlining the timing and high-level plan for CCC2 by the end of Q1.

We have mentioned on calls and in discussions that we want to do a CCC2 in June. We plan to experiment of one-week CCC focused on ecosystem growth before June. The governance team is in discussion with a few tools and service providers such as PSi to make the next CCC a bit more seamless.

:green_circle: Success: Yes, we hosted a delegate day. Check the forum post for more details.

:red_circle: Fail We are drafting the plan and a public version is targeted for Q2.
:red_circle: Fail: The plan has no been shared with the DAO yet.
:red_circle: Fail: We don’t have a clear timeline in place yet.

:green_circle: Success: Feems posted on the forum linking all forum posts.
:green_circle: Success: Sam posted on the forum.
:green_circle: Success: Sarah has posted on the forum.
:green_circle: Success: The handbook was posted.

:yellow_circle: Partial success: The Delegate Training proposal is now live on the forum, pending feedback and delegate endorsement. It’s likely to be up for a vote in the May 1st cycle. (The initiative may be split into two separate proposals.)

While we have had a few failures and partial successes during the first quarter, we see this as a productive start to the new year. Our governance team is looking forward to finalizing the initiatives started in Q1 and pushing forth more initiatives (and in turn goals) in Q2.
