Who we are

ETH Kipu is a foundation that weaves bonds to strengthen the Ethereum ecosystem through education and cooperation.
We are forming builders across Latin America by providing free, in-person education with top-tier instructors, in collaboration with key partners such as universities and local communities.
We are grantees of the Ethereum Foundation. All our educational material is open, collaborative, accessible, and free for everyone.

What We Do

We achieve partnerships with communities, governments, universities, and educational institutions to deliver courses and professional internships in Ethereum.

We have 4 work areas:

  1. Education:
    We educate people from Latin America about the Ethereum ecosystem using sustainable formats accessible to everyone. Current programs include:

  2. Kipu Impact:
    We build relationships with Ethereum-aligned actors in Latin America, identify needs and opportunities, and advocate for a sustainable ecosystem.
    Through the Kipu Impact Support Program, we empower impactful initiatives by offering support to teams and individuals who want to create activities that spread awareness about Ethereum.

  3. Kipu Stakers:
    We support communities and individuals in Latin America to manage their own nodes, promoting decentralization and fostering regional collaboration.

  4. ETH Latam:
    An event co-created by the Latin American community, ETH Latam brings people together to share knowledge, updates, and experiences about Ethereum.

Scroll and ETH Kipu Foundation

Our collaboration with Scroll has evolved organically over the years through shared efforts to strengthen the Ethereum ecosystem in Latin America. Chronologically, our key milestones include:

  • ETH Latam Buenos Aires 2022, Argentina:
    Scroll supported this flagship event, contributing to the success of one of the largest Ethereum gatherings in the region.

  • ETH Latam San Pedro Sula 2024, Honduras:
    Scroll continued its support by backing the 2024 edition of ETH Latam, which included a hackathon to foster local talent and encourage builders to engage with Ethereum technologies.

  • Ethereum Developer Pack:
    As part of our educational program, students engage with Scroll’s LevelUp challenges during Module 2, where they learn the fundamentals of Solidity. The feedback we gather from both students and instructors helps improve the experience on both sides, fostering growth and collaboration.

  • Scroll Sepolia Faucet:
    To provide a smooth onboarding experience, Scroll supported the launch of our custom faucet on Scroll Sepolia. This faucet allows our students to claim 0.1 ETH to use in their deployments, which form part of their practical assignments that we evaluate continuously throughout the course.

Why we joined Scroll Governance

Although governance is not our primary focus, we recognize that Scroll is a Layer 2 solution deeply aligned with Ethereum’s values and vision. Our decision to join its governance reflects our commitment to supporting initiatives that foster decentralization and community growth.

Scroll has demonstrated, through tangible actions in Latin America, a genuine interest in empowering more builders and users in the region. We honor Scroll’s early efforts to ensure that underrepresented regions actively participate in shaping the governance process from the very beginning. By contributing to this initiative, we aim to support a governance model that reflects Ethereum’s inclusive and collaborative spirit.

Our Scope

Our scope in Scroll governance will be very specific: we will focus on creating opportunities for builders from Latin America, especially in areas related to hackathons, events, training programs, bootcamps, and similar initiatives.

This is what we meant in our delegate statement:
“Strengthening education efforts within the Scroll ecosystem, creating pathways for the developers taking our Ethereum Developer Pack to engage with Scroll technology meaningfully. We will advocate for more student-driven resources and mentorship programs to have more developers deploying on Scroll.”

While our primary focus will remain on education, if we identify topics outside of this scope where our contribution could be valuable, we will engage as needed. However, our initial approach will be intentionally narrow to concentrate on educational efforts and builder development.

Currently, ETH Kipu has no material conflicts of interest. Should any arise, we will promptly inform the Scroll DAO community. Our participation in this and other DAOs is dedicated to supporting collaborative, open-source projects that strengthen the Ethereum ecosystem and contribute to its scaling efforts.

By delegating to ETH Kipu, you acknowledge that we will engage on a best-effort basis, and we cannot be held liable for any damages or outcomes resulting from our participation in this DAO.
