Update on activity:
we’ve been engaged on weekly calls and asyn chats with the gov team and other delegates to understand what’s needed in Scroll. Our assessment has led us to the following priorities:

  • research to understand what type of builder support programs would be cost effective (hypotheses: most programs aren’t and Scroll could waste millions. The treasury is not big enough for this so we’re proposing a more cautious and strategic approach)
  • alignment on strategic priorities (which industries, geographies, use cases, etc. to target for builders): this has seen us involved in shaping a strategic deliberation proposal and participate in a number of conversations. Still in sense making stage to figure out how to approach this.

We’re happy to present the 1st proposal to the DAO, now live for voting.

Our rationale of why start here:

  • builder support is critical for Scroll to survive
  • we don’t have ilimited resources to waste, so being strategic on how the capital is allocated is key
  • there’s a lot we can learn from what’s been tried so we’re not repeating mistakes
  • Scroll needs to know for builder support to be really effective: where to focus (from Scroll strategy) and how to do it (from this research)
  • in theory, the how could be done later, but time is also of the essence, and already there were concerns about the time the research takes. So we’ve found the ideal balance to be parallelising these two workstreams and as such are helping the DAO take this route. The research proposal has also been designed with some flexibility so we can take insights from the what as it develops.

Conclusion: expect us to facilitate a coalition for the scroll strategy deliberation (likely new proposal), and in the meantime, please support the research proposal so we get going this year with a strong foot

Voting in favour of the Euclyde upgrade.

Kudos on the well redacted and clear proposal, including clear communication of testing and audits, and impact assessment across stakeholders.

As a requets for future proposals, would be great to assess the business outcomes (even if briefly, not trying to add extra hurdles to the egineering team but this assessment is likely already done before prioritising a feature I imagine so this is more about communication than requiring additional analysis) cc @eugene @Jamilya @chrislemanade

Hi, @danielo !
Could we please ask you to update your delegate thread that would include the following:

  • Your contact information and delegate address including link to your Agora profile
  • Background and aspirations within Scroll DAO

Thanks for your updates and ongoing activity!

I just voted

Favour

and Against

My general stance is that ecosystem development initatives benefit from focus and quality. So proposals spread too thin between too many objectives and using old incubation models would benefit from additional focus on the areas where they can excel and updating to better incubation models (e.g. move away from incubators and closer to venture studios).
