Revising Timelines for the Co-Creation Cycle (CCC)

tl;dr A Few Updates

  • Extending the window for idea sourcing as many delegates haven’t had time to add their thoughts yet. Please make sure to check the gov calendar for revised timing.
  • Experimenting with a consistent call time (Wed at 07:30 UTC-5 & 13:00 UTC-5) through the end of the year.

Co-Creation Cycle Revised Timing

Based on feedback we’ve gotten in the last week, we’re going to extend the window for idea generation for another week. This is meant to provide more opportunity to provide inputs to the Miro board or the DeForm.

The calendar has already been revised. To recap, we are now going to have:

  • Sourcing & reviewing ideas: Tue Nov 19 through Sun Nov 24
  • Voting on which ideas to turn to proposals: Mon Nov 25 - Wed Nov 27
  • Digesting results: Wed Nov 27
  • Proposal co-creation: Wed Nov 27 - Thu Dec 5
  • Review and refinement: Fri Dec 6 - Wed Dec 11
  • Pre-vote check-in: Wed Dec 11
  • Voting window opens: Wed Dec 11
  • Results and next steps: Wed Dec 18

More Details on CCC Next Steps

Through Sun Nov 22, we are going to continue to accept new idea submissions via the Miro board or the DeForm.

From there, we’re going to convert the ideas in the Miro and DeForm into some version of offchain voting to signal which of the ideas should be focused on for the proposal co-design phase. Currently thinking of doing this via Pol.is or some similar deliberation tooling, that way people can also add context around their votes.

The ideas that receive the most votes will be the focus of the co-design phase. Depending on the nature of ideas, we may suggest that multiple ideas be combined towards a single proposal (e.g. if we get a lot of different kind of grant or capital allocation ideas, we may ask to focus them towards a single goal, such as, what should the Foundation’s first formal grant program focus on).

If we see that some priority topics are not getting any interest, the Foundation team may put forth it’s own proposal (e.g. a proposal for output, outcome, and impact tracking so that we can get those systems in place prior to any grant / funding programs formally commencing).

Proposals emerging from this stage will be posted on the forum. To be clear, delegates and community members will be welcome to co-design these with the community. We just have to make sure certain proposals pass (such as the data and infra one) to avoid delaying the implementation of relevant proposals.

  • Reminder: we are separating out ideas vs execution. Please word all proposals as though the Foundation team is the one executing the proposal. In instances where the Foundation team is not able to execute an approved proposal, then another round of votes will take place the following month for the purpose of vendor selection.

The co-design phase will transition over to a reflection and refinement period, where there will be multiple opportunities to get feedback and refine proposals. This is meant to ensure that proposals get the most input possible before they go to a formal vote.

From there, the Foundation team will put the appropriate proposals up for an onchain vote. After voting concludes, the Foundation team will work on crafting a governance roadmap that showcases when all proposals will officially go into effect and what else the community can expect from governance in 2025.

Consistent Weekly Call Time

During the remainder of the CCC, we are going to have calls at the same time on Wednesday’s to provide more consistency. There will be additional calls beyond that during the CCC, but this is in response to the fact that it’s easiest for people to have a recurring invite vs needing to continuously check the calendar.

Let us know if this time (Wed at 07:30 UTC-5 and Wed at 13:00 UTC-5) doesn’t work. The goal in running two calls is to make it as accessible to a global audience so please do respond here or DM me here or on tg if these times really aren’t working for certain parts of the world.
