Description / Brief
Hi everyone! My name is João Victor, and I was a recipient of the Latam Scholarship for Devconnect supported by Scroll. The event took place in Buenos Aires in 2025 and was my first large-scale Web3 conference experience. Attending Devconnect allowed me to experience the Ethereum ecosystem beyond my day-to-day work as a developer, directly engaging with people, teams, and projects shaping the industry.
Grant / Sponsorship
The scholarship provided a grant of USD 600, which was primarily used to cover airfare costs. Even though I am based in Brazil, the distance to Argentina makes flights a significant expense, so the grant was essential in making my participation possible.

Personal Goals
This was my first major industry event, and my main goals were to observe how the Web3 and Ethereum ecosystem operates in practice, meet new people, and build meaningful connections. As a developer, I was especially interested in connecting with other developers and project teams, as well as understanding how projects collaborate and evolve beyond what we see behind our computer screens.
Favorite Events
One of my favorite experiences was attending the Scroll House, which took place at Arcos 4326. There, I met Peter from Project Mocha, a project focused on tokenizing coffee plantations in Kenya. It was a great example of how blockchain can be applied to real-world assets, and I even had the chance to bring some of their coffee back with me to Brazil.

Recommendations
I highly recommend continuing initiatives like the Latam Scholarship program. For participants from regions where travel costs are a major barrier, this kind of support is crucial to enable real participation and strengthen the global Ethereum and Scroll ecosystem.
Final Thoughts
I’m extremely grateful to Scroll for the opportunity to attend Devconnect and to connect more deeply with the ecosystem. This experience motivated me to stay engaged, continue contributing, and keep building connections within the Scroll and broader Ethereum community.
Thank you for making this possible.
