Proposal: Euclid Upgrade on Scroll

The following reflects the views of L2BEAT’s governance team, composed of @kaereste, @Sinkas, and @Manugotsuka, and it’s based on their combined research, fact-checking, and ideation.

We’re voting FOR the proposal.

Before casting our vote, we asked one of our researchers at L2BEAT to review the proposed changes so we are fully informed and aware of what we’re voting for. Overall, Euclid is a huge and technically complex upgrade since it changes things both on the DA side (blob encoding) and on the proving side (upgrading circuits moving from Scroll zkEVM to OpenVM).

After reviewing all the details and the associated transactions, we have confirmed that, once they are executed, they will only do what’s described in the proposal - nothing more or less.

The only thing we have to note is that as things are, the Security Council will have to execute the upgrade, which won’t happen automatically once the vote concludes. With that in mind, it is implied that we are trusting the Security Council to execute the upgrades described.
